Biography

Caitlyn Fulcher is an ECOP Community Peer Specialist coordinator for the College of Public Health, School of Nursing. She is a Registered Peer recovery specialist through the Virginia Board of Counseling. Her primary role with ��AV is the site coordinator of the ECOP program located in Chesterfield County.

Formerly, Caitlyn worked with True Recovery RVA as the Director of Women’s Programs. True Recovery RVA is a recovery housing organization located in Henrico, VA. She is excited to work with the ECOP team and bring her knowledge and her owned lived experiences to the program and has hope to help as many individuals as possible who want to find a better way of life.

Biography

Liz Laster joined the faculty in Summer 2022 as Assistant Director of Practicum Education. Prior to joining the department of social work, Liz worked as a school social worker with Fairfax County Public schools as well as with therapeutic foster care in Washington, DC. Ms. Laster received her Master’s Degree from Catholic University and has trained in trauma-informed practices.

Biography

Ms. Nancy Spencer manages a portfolio of public health projects, which engages high-risk, high-need individuals with Opioid Use Disorder and Criminal Justice involvement to facilitate health and social care systems navigation. She is responsible for the implementation and delivery of community-based participatory research that includes cross-sector health equity initiatives. Ms. Spencer leads interdisciplinary teams, talented in nursing, social work, behavioral health, counseling, health informatics, peer recovery support, and pharmacy. Through partnerships with governments, public health, and the legal and carceral systems, Ms. Spencer’s programs strengthen community health systems, upskill the health workforce, and deliver community-based care and treatment in health districts across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Biography

Jeremy Burton is an ECOP Community Peer Specialist Coordinator for the College of Public Health, School of Nursing. He is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist with DBHDS and has graduated from the Recovery Leadership Academy in 2021, facilitated by VCU. Burton is also currently an assigned mentor of the RLA program of 2022. His primary role is to assist individuals with a history of opiate use being released from incarceration in order to discover a better quality of life.

Formerly, Jeremy worked four years as a CPRS with the Rappahannock Area Community Service Board. He worked directly in the Medication Assistant Treatment program, assisting individuals with a history of opiate use. Becoming one of the first SUD Peer Recovery specialists, Jeremy assisted the RACSB lay the groundwork for their MAT program, which gave him the honor of training and developing new PRS in that role. As a Lead Peer Recovery Specialist: Peer Navigator with ��AV, he has been tasked to intercept 2 in response to the global opiate crisis. Jeremy is grateful and excited to work with PW ADC and the MAP clinic to reach the lost and suffering.

Biography

Joelle Patricio is a Graduate Admissions Coordinator for the College of Public Health. In her role, she supports the recruitment efforts for all graduate programs and provides guidance and support to students from pre-admission through graduation.

Joelle was born and raised in Hawai’i, on the island of Kaua’i. She attended Hawai’i public schools for her K-12 education, followed by Willamette University in Salem, Oregon for her Bachelor’s degree. Joelle returned home in 2019 and received her Teaching License from Chaminade University during her service in Teach for America. Prior to joining Mason in 2022, she worked as a Special Education Teacher for the Hawai’i Department of Education on the island of O’ahu.

Isela Caballero is the Communications Coordinator of the Department of Health Administration and Policy. Prior to working at ��AV, she obtained years of customer service, healthcare administration, and technology experience. She earned her B.S. in Community Health with a concentration in Global Health (2017) at ��AV.

Biography

Mojgan (Maggie) Sefat is the Financial Analyst for the College of Public Health, Office of the Dean. Her primary role is to support the College’s financial operation, assisting with expenditure budgeting, accounting and purchasing. She is working in higher education for over ten years. She served as a Grant accountant at Northern Virginia Community College for three years and Business operation coordinator at GMU Housing for 9 years. With a commitment to professional development, she is currently pursuing a Data Analytics Graduate certificate at Mason.

Biography

Mary Kirtley Righi, MPH is the Clinical Operations Coordinator of ��AV’s Mason and Partners (MAP) Clinics. In her role, Righi provides operational support to all MAP clinic locations and develops and maintains community partnerships. Prior to joining GMU, her previous work included patient navigation within fertility care and coordination of clinical research addressing pediatric health disparities.

Righi received a Bachelor of Arts in English and American Literatures from Middlebury College and a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Global Health from Brown University.

Biography

Melissa Hensley joined the ��AV Department of Social Work in April 2020 as a Practicum Education Coordinator. Prior to joining the Department of Social Work, Melissa’s work focused on long-term care and hospice, as well as advocacy within the community for additional programs to support the aging population. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Gerontology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
