The final virtual event of the spring 2020 semester, an informative and somewhat edgy discussion addressing future effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, was sponsored by the Schar School Alumni Chapter and featured one of their own as a guest.

The webinar was called聽COVID-19: How the Pandemic Is Reshaping Our Government, Economy, and Society. The hour-long discussion 鈥渃aptures the multi-disciplinary nature of the Schar School,鈥 moderator聽聽said in his introduction as some 150 spectators tuned in for the May 20 Webex event.

Panelists represented a wide swath of Schar School expertise. In addition to Associate Professor Koblentz, director of the graduate school聽, panelists included Research Assistant Professor聽聽coordinator of the聽聽in the聽聽program; Associate Professor聽, a presidential scholar and an expert in legislative issues; and Professor聽, an expert in the role of new technologies in boosting economic growth and productivity; he is former head of research of聽The Human Development Report, the UN鈥檚 annual flagship publication.

Also joining the panel was聽, the Acting Chief for the Defense Health Agency Clinical Investigations Program, Research and Development Directorate at the Defense Health Headquarters. She is also a 2017 PhD graduate of the Schar School鈥檚 Biodefense program and has written about the transmission and risks of聽
