Campus Updates

Lights Out! Power Down! on Thursday, June 23

Faculty, staff, and students on the Fairfax Campus are encouraged to participate in the annual "Lights Out! Power Down!" event on Thursday, June 23, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Help the university demonstrate its ability to meet Mason鈥檚 load reduction commitment during this scheduled demonstration test.

Turn off lights and electronics not in use, such as televisions, projectors, copiers, printers, fax machines, etc. Unplug appliances like coffee makers and cooking equipment. When not in use, turn off laboratory equipment.

As a large consumer of electricity, Mason has enrolled in 鈥淚nterruptible Load Reliability鈥 (ILR), a demand response program that pays customers in exchange for a commitment to reduce electrical load in the event of an electrical grid emergency condition that could result in outages.

Thank you for helping Mason reduce its energy consumption and be a steward of our environment.
