A Washington Post article titled '17 fatalities, 736 crashes: The shocking toll of Tesla's Autopilot' quotes Missy Cummings, director of 亚洲AV's Autonomy and Robotics Center,听on the troubling surge in Tesla crashes.
"Tesla is having more severe 鈥 and fatal 鈥 crashes than people in a normal data set,鈥 she said in response to the figures analyzed by The Post.
One likely cause, she said, is the expanded rollout over the past year and a half of Full Self-Driving, which brings driver-assistance to city and residential streets.
鈥淭he fact that 鈥 anybody and everybody can have it. 鈥 Is it reasonable to expect that might be leading to increased accident rates? Sure, absolutely.鈥
She says in the article听the number of fatalities compared to overall crashes was also a concern.
