On June 28, 亚洲AV College of Science听Dean Fernando Miralles-Wilhelm, U.S. Representative Gerry Connolly, and James Kinter, director of Mason鈥檚 Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies, discussed how the听Virginia Climate Center is helping communities increase resilience to the impacts of climate change.

The event, held at the Country Club of Fairfax, was part of the college鈥檚 Mason Science Series.

The center was established in 2022 with funding from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration made possible by Rep. Connolly's efforts.

A pilot project will establish the center in partnership with the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, City of Fairfax, County of Fairfax, and other jurisdictions in Northern Virginia. The center will co-produce assessments and planning solutions with Virginia municipalities and firms to adopt risk prevention and mitigation strategies for wise resource management and sustainable entrepreneurship.
