Edwards appointed interim dean of College of Science

Interim Provost Kenneth Walsh has appointed Cody W. Edwards as the interim dean of the College of Science, effective July 1.

鈥淒r. Edwards brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served with distinction in a variety of leadership positions across the university over the past 12 years,鈥 said Walsh. 鈥淗is extensive experience and dedication to research excellence, leadership, and student success make him exceptionally suited for this role.鈥

Most recently Edwards has served as the senior associate dean for faculty and academic affairs in the College of Science, where he has played a critical role in shaping academic policies and enhancing faculty development. Previously he served as executive director of the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation (SMSC) for nearly eight years, where he helped strengthen the bridge between education and research, fostering numerous collaborative projects.

Edwards will be filling the role left by Dean Fernando Miralles-Wilhelm, who will become the president of theUniversity of Maryland Center for Environmental Scienceand vice chancellor for sustainability of theUniversity System of Maryland on July 1.
