Biography

Alan R. Shark is an associate professor in the Schar School of Policy and Government at 亚洲AV. His focus has been technology leadership, emerging technologies, governance, civic engagement in government. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Shark serves as the executive director of Public Technology Institute (PTI) a nonprofit headquartered in Washington, D.C. (See聽.)

Among his more recent work, he is the author of the textbook聽Technology & Public Management Second Ed.,聽7 Trends That Will Transform Local Governments through Technology,聽Smarter Cities for a Bright and Sustainable Future聽and聽CIO Leadership for CIO Leadership for Cities and Counties: Emerging Trends and Practices.

His work has been supported by the Sloan Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, the United Nations, OECD, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Shark was elected as a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, where he serves as co-chair for the NAPA Standing Panel on Technology Leadership. Shark is also a fellow of the American Society of Association Executives.

He earned his DPA in public administration from the University of Southern California.
