Biography

Burak F. Tanyu joined the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering in the Volgenau School at 亚洲AV in 2011 specializing in geotechnical engineering. Prior to joining George Mason, Tanyu was a senior engineer at Geosyntec Consultants where he worked on landslide forensic analyses, earth retention system designs, design and permitting of residual waste landfills, and seep investigation and embankment stability. He has been a National Highway Institute certified instructor, teaching the design of earth retaining structures since 2008.

Burak Tanyu鈥檚 extensive research and publication of novel pavement construction methods have influenced practice and policy within transportation agencies across the country.

2014 - 2017: Defining the Boundary Conditions for Composite Behavior of Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil (GRS) Structures. Funded by the University of Texas.

2013 - 2015: Evaluation of Use of Recycled Concrete as an Additive to Base CoarseSubbase Material in Virginia Department of Transportation Projects. Funded by VDOT-Virginia Department of Transportation.

2014 - 2015: Use of Recycled Materials as Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Retaining Wall Reinforced Backfills. Funded by the University of Wisconsin Madison.
