Biography
Dr. Ajay Vinzé began his tenure as Dean for the Donald G. Costello College of Business at ÑÇÖÞAV on July 1, 2022.   Â
Dr. Vinzé comes to George Mason from the University of Missouri, after serving as Dean of the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business. Prior to his work at Mizzou, he was the Earl and Gladys Davis Distinguished Professor of Business in the Department of Information Systems at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. In addition to a stellar research record, his 18-year career at Arizona State includes assignments as Associate Dean for International Programs, Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Education, Director of the Executive MBA Program, and the Management Information Systems Doctoral Program, as well as the Founding Director of the Technology Research Center. Before joining the faculty at Arizona State, he spent 10 years at Texas A & M University as both an Assistant and Associate Professor with tenure.Â
During his tenure as Dean at Trulaske, he is credited with significantly enhancing the research profile of the college, offering innovative business education programs, and raising over $30M in philanthropic giving. Leveraging his efforts at Trulaske, he is fast positioning the Costello College of Business among leading business schools regionally, nationally, and globally. The Costello College of Business and Dr. Vinzé are recognized for impactful research and credited with a number of forward-thinking innovations in business education, including Modular Education through micro-credentialing and stackable certificates, Inclusive Entrepreneurship, a²Ô»å the development of a proactive global presence. Â
Dr. Vinzé is a Fulbright Senior Specialist and a global citizen, having lived, worked or traveled through more than 70 countries over the past three decades. Â
Research Interests
Dr. Vinzé maintains an active research agenda, and his work ranges from artificial intelligence (AI) applications for business problem solving and collaborative computing to emergency preparedness and response and disruptive influences of ICT investments. His research is widely recognized for technology innovation and organizational relevance, including data analytics, emergency preparedness and response, disruptive innovation, economic value of ICT investments, and collaborative computing. His research typically leverages collaboration with public and private sector organizations.Â
Dr. Vinzé’s publications have appeared in leading scholarly journals including Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Health Affairs a²Ô»å various I·¡·¡·¡â€¯a²Ô»å ACM Transactions. In 2012, his research contributions were recognized at Arizona State University with a Faculty Excellence Award.Â
In May 2016, based on a model developed by Dr. Vinzé, MasterCard Foundation awarded Arizona State $21.9 million. This inter-disciplinary six-year grant focuses on promoting tertiary education in sub-Saharan Africa.Â
For his research contributions over the years, in 2023, Dr. Vinzé was voted into the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University Faculty Hall of Fame.
