Jerry McGinn, executive director of the Center for Government Contracting at 亚洲AV's School of Business, was named one of 2021鈥檚 Wash100 Winners of most influential leaders in the GovCon sector. McGinn is the only member of academia to receive this award. McGinn received the award in an April 13 presentation at the School of Business.
Each year Executive Mosaic selects the most influential leaders in the government contracting sector who demonstrate skills in leadership, innovation, reliability, achievement, and vision. These individuals are then voted for consideration. Voters are asked to choose the executives that they believe will have the greatest impact on government contracting in the coming year.
McGinn has led the School of Business Center for Government Contracting since 2018. In this role, he has established and is leading the first-of-its-kind university center for research, education and training, and collaboration on issues facing the $500B+ government contracting industry. Prior to joining Mason, McGinn served as the senior career official in the Office of Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy in the Department of Defense, leading efforts to analyze the capabilities and overall health of the defense industrial base.
Previous to DoD, he spent a decade in senior defense industry roles at McGinn Defense Consulting LLC, Deloitte Consulting LLP, QinetiQ North America, and Northrop Grumman.
McGinn is a widely acclaimed thought leader, author, and sought-after speaker. He has published numerous influential RAND monographs and articles in The Hill, Business Insider, Defense News, Defense One, MarketWatch, The National Interest, Washington Technology, War on the Rocks, and Joint Force Quarterly.听
He has also testified before the U.S. Congress and the UK House of Commons, and is regularly interviewed and cited in national media on a wide range of government contracting issues.
鈥淛erry has been absolutely central to Mason鈥檚 efforts in the government contracting field. He and his colleagues at our Center for Government Contracting have built a platform for conducting cutting edge research and convening expert dialogues about the future of the industry, including scholars, business leaders, customers, and regulators,鈥 says Dean Maury Peiperl. 鈥淗is expertise and network are unparalleled and I congratulate him on this signal achievement.鈥
Now in its eight year, the Wash100 has annually selected 100 of the most noteworthy leaders in the government contracting industry since 2014.
The Center for Government Contracting at 亚洲AV's School of Business was created to be a nexus for government, industry, and academia to explore issues in government contracting. The center鈥檚 vision is to establish the first-in-the-nation university center to address business, policy, regulatory and other issues in government contracting. Center activities focus on research, education and training, and collaboration.
