    Olga O’Brien started her journey at ÑÇÖÞAV as an international student from Prague on a volleyball scholarship. As a student, she started working as a part-time volleyball instructor at the Freedom Center in 1999—the year the center first opened. And she has been there ever since.

    The Green Studio, located on ÑÇÖÞAV’s Fairfax Campus, is a permaculture garden, outdoor studio, and lab space dedicated to hosting ecological art and design projects by students from across the arts and sciences. Jennifer Ashworth wanted to elevate the space in preparation for more student projects in the future. She applied for funding through University Sustainability’s Patriot Green Fund and was granted financial support to revamp the garden in preparation for the new academic year.

    The Center for the Arts on ÑÇÖÞAV’s Fairfax Campus has revamped its zero-waste infrastructure, thanks to the support of University Sustainability's Patriot Green Fund. Sleek new waste and recycling stations at the performing arts venue will improve Mason’s waste diversion rate, helping to reach Mason's goal of diverting at least 90% of waste from the trash.

    Mason Night at Nationals Park on Sept. 6 was a hit. The Nationals beat the Mets 3-2 and Mason faculty, staff were there to cheer them on.

    The National Center on Forensics brought medical and legal practitioners from across the country to Mason's Science and Technology campus to learn about new methodologies and technologies from experts. Jay King of Chesapeake Search Dogs, with Skyler the spaniel, was among the presenters.
