Andrew Opitz first came to ����AV as a freshman over a decade ago. After taking a hiatus from school, he graduated from the Film and Video Studies (FAVS) Program in May 2023. Opitz’s film, Jazz, which he directed for his senior capstone, was a semi-finalist in the Student Academy Awards Alternative/Experimental category.

Interning with his Congressional representative, Schar School senior Matthew Glaubke turned his Capitol Hill dreams into reality.

HNRS 360 The Silkroad and the Railroad is the kind of course that could only happen at Mason. With artists-in-residence Silkroad Ensemble as partners, 25 Honors College students from 17 majors are exploring cultures and histories, music and narratives, impacts and legacies of the Transcontinental Railroad.

When the White House wanted to invite students to help welcome Australia’s prime minister Anthony Albanese to Washington for a state visit, they reached out to ����AV. Schar School of Policy and Government undergraduates were only too happy to answer the call.

In a 16-week study, athletes on Mason's women's lacrosse team were tracked on their total distance run, changes in direction, high speed distance, and heart rate. The study, published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, is believed to be the first to focus solely on the training demands and in-season physical demands of Division I women’s lacrosse players.

Student Government President Paul Wyche and Vice President Nell Palumbo’s campaign motto was “Making sure Mason is a place for ALL.”

Collaboration between colleges has led to the creation of a unique autonomous surface water vehicle, collecting samples and reducing manual labor for researchers.

Biology major Spogmai Ahmadzai joined Mason's EIP in 7th grade and took advantage of all the resources it has to offer. Now she is a University Scholar at Mason preparing for a career in health care.

More than 500 students, nine sponsors, and 50 volunteers gathered on ����AV’s Fairfax Campus for the fifth annual PatriotHacks hackathon from October 6-8. After working for 36 hours straight, student teams presented 70 projects to a panel of judges from the tech industry.
