Most people with access to a 3D printer find themselves creating small objects or gadgets. But one student group working at the MIX at ����AV each Friday is driven by a different dream.

“We build, design, test and plan to compete in solar-powered car competitions,” said Michael Riggi, president of Mason’s solar car team, HyperNova Solar. “[We believe] our car, when complete, will be the world’s first and only 3D-printed solar car.”

International graffiti artist TakerOne is working on a mural, “Fauna of Belmont Bay,” at Mason’s Potomac Science Center in Woodbridge, Virginia.

With COVID-19 continuing to spread throughout the world, there is a demand for rapid, noninvasive diagnostics. ����AV researchers Robin Couch and Allyson Dailey, members of the College of Science and the Institute of Biohealth Innovation, are working to answer that call with their research on volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for infectious disease detection.

����AV is known for meeting students where they are.

����AV has signed a collaboration agreement to give Noble Life Sciences access to the National Center for Biodefense and Infectious Diseases BSL-3 facility at the Science and Technology Campus in Manassas.
