    Micah Hodges works as a success coach in University Life at 亚洲AV. In this role, Hodges works one-on-one with students to help them discover what success looks like to them. Outside of work, Hodges helps sustain and develop something else: our local environment and community spaces. As a volunteer with NOVA and District Cleanups, Hodges works alongside cadres of volunteers who remove trash from public spaces.

    It鈥檚 common to think of Indigenous peoples as living in the past. We may think of them around Thanksgiving or in old films and books. But Native Americans are very much here and now, said Jeremy Campbell, and after decades of struggle, that鈥檚 starting to be recognized.

    In 2018, U.S. legislation granted federal recognition to six tribes in Virginia. A 亚洲AV team has been partnering with two of them, the Upper Mattaponi and Chickahominy nations, as they embark on being sovereign nations.

    This spring a small team of 亚洲AV students used the Patriot Green Fund to enhance the diversity of the university鈥檚 Honey Bee Pollinator Garden. This garden, which sits outside of Roberts House on the Mason鈥檚 Fairfax Campus, serves as a biodiverse pollinator haven for the bees currently residing nearby in one of the Honey Bee Initiative鈥檚 apiaries.
