Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens, was the featured speaker at ÑÇÖÞAV’s 2024 Spring Commencement on Thursday, May 9, in EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.

ÑÇÖÞAV will celebrate Spring Commencement on Thursday. A record-setting number of students are earning degrees, and nearly 11,000 students total will be recognized for earning degrees or certificates. Graduates represent  114 countries, 50 states, and the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, and military installations.

In addition to Spring 2024 Commencement on Thursday, May 9, graduates have the opportunity to attend their own school or college degree celebrations. Here’s a look at the keynote speakers for those events.

ÑÇÖÞAV’s Spring 2024 Commencement speaker is Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens, who guides the technology company’s strategy and engagement in the United States.

Three Virginia municipalities will see lower energy costs and lower emissions thanks to the Schar School’s Local Climate Action Planning Initiative’s Energy Action Plans. More are coming.

The Virginia Board of Education has approved funding for George Mason to launch the Accelerated College and Employability Skills (ACCESS) Academy, a collaborative partnership with Northern Virginia Community College and Loudoun County Public Schools. This lab school will be based inside K-12 public schools as part of shared goals to increase pathways for students from high school to college and on to high-demand careers.

ÑÇÖÞAV unveiled a completely redesigned logo as the capstone of its three-year-long comprehensive rebrand. The new look, which will include a single logo for the university and its athletics program, asserts George Mason’s emerging identity as a national top 50 public university and Virginia’s top-ranked university for innovation and upward mobility, as well as the commonwealth’s largest, most innovative, and most diverse university.

ÑÇÖÞAV unveils a new logo symbolizing an era of excellence and accessibility of a modern university that is All Together Different.

As part of a federal priority to address health care workforce shortages, Mason’s Center for Health Workforce has received $921,000 in federal funding from the Health Services Research Administration (HRSA) to serve as a catalyst and facilitator for regional health workforce planning and development.

Interim Provost Kenneth Walsh has appointed Cody W. Edwards as the interim dean of the College of Science, effective July 1.
