George Mason's Sushil Jajodia named an ACM Fellow

����AV’s Leah Adams and Amarda Shehu were among 12 Virginia educators honored by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) as 2022 Outstanding Faculty Award recipients, the council announced Thursday.

Lily Patterson knew she wanted to make things when she began her studies at ����AV.

“I just wanted to turn physical things into something that’s really cool and awesome,” she said.

Civil engineering student found her current job working on-site at the U.S. Capitol complex through an internship with Christman Company.

The meeting, which followed a walking tour of the construction site that will soon be transformed into a hub for the Innovation District in Arlington and the Innovation Pilot Space in Vernon Smith Hall, focused on ways that Mason could strategically fill the growing need for tech talent in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

With the support of a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Mason researchers Vivian Motti and Anya Evmenova have developed a smartwatch application that will help improve the daily lives of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Accelerate 2022, held on Mason’s Arlington Campus on Oct. 19-20, focused on showcasing up-and-coming startups throughout the greater Washington, D.C., region.
